AN ATTORNEY WHO CARES ABOUT FAMILY

Meet Attorney Lee Taylor Mercado, the founder and owner of Mercado Family Law Mediation. Originally from Marietta, Ohio she has been a Florida native since 1985. Currently she lives in New Smyrna Beach, Florida.

 

Attorney Mercado’s education includes a Bachelor of Arts degree from Miami University (Ohio) in 1984, where she majored in both Political Science and Philosophy. In 1994, She received her Juris Doctor degree from the University of Florida. At the University of Florida School of Law, Attorney Mercado was a Moot Court Team member and she won the Best Brief award.

After law school Attorney Mercado moved to Central Florida and accepted a position with the Eighteenth Judicial Circuit Public Defender’s Office. She worked in both the Titusville and Sanford offices for nearly twelve years, defending thousands of accused persons and trying over 100 jury trials.

​

In 2006, Attorney Mercado left the Office of the Public Defender and founded the law firm of Mercado & Berry, P.A. with Mira Berry. There, Attorney Mercado continued her defense of those accused of crimes. During this time she also branched out into the practice of family law.

In 2013, Attorney Mercado founded the Law Office of Lee Mercado in New Smyrna Beach, Florida, where she has successfully transitioned her practice from mostly criminal law to family law and mediating family law matters.

​

Attorney Lee Mercado understands the distinctive issues and difficulties children face during the breakup of the family, as she has years of experience not only as a parent, but as a foster parent.  She also realizes each family is unique, sometimes needing creative solutions to difficult issues.  She offers a problem-solving skill set, which has come from years of negotiation and litigation experience.

Furthermore, Attorney Lee Mercado is an active member in good standing with the Florida Bar.
